Public Speaking 010: Know your audience. If the audience is illiterate, they might not understand you, but they'll STILL remember how you made them feel. If you mumble, they might not hear you, and they'll feel irritated. If you tell them they're deaf, after you've incoherently mumbled, they'll feel like leaving. Know your audience, as a public speech is essentially the same thing as a 1 on 1 private converstation. Alienate the recipient of your speech at your peril! Lastly, don't attempt to gaslight people. It's evil if you succeed and undermines your credibility if you fail (shartlighting). Hopefully you'll fail to mislead people, because even if you believe your nonsense (as a charlatan does), it's still misrepresentation. If you do it knowingly, that's far more perilous and is the definition of fraud. Fraud can be a crime, so maybe don't do that. Again, your credibility.
